Gary Clayton
Mr. Gary Clayton serves as Chief Executive Officer & Chairman at Automatic. He also serves as Venture Advisor at Relay Ventures. He is the Chairman at Automat.ai. He is an Advisor to a number of startups including Elemental Foundry, ToyTalk, Directly, SnapGuide, Evolv and Jelli. As Former Chief Creative Officer for Nuance Communications, Gary Clayton held a unique role that sat at the intersection of strategy, innovation and design. Spanning the mobile, healthcare, consumer and enterprise markets, Gary drove an innovative team of engineers and creative designers to interpret technology trends through a design lens and attempt to create next-generation user experiences. While at Nuance Gary was instrumental in creating Nina, Wintermute, DragonTV, Dragon Reader, Dragon Go and Dragon Dictation which was inducted into Apple's App Hall of Fame. Prior to joining Nuance, Gary was the Vice President of Speech Strategy for Yahoo!, where he led the Company's efforts in creating next-generation speech applications including the first speech-enabled, unconstricted web search. Before Yahoo!, he was the Chief Creative Officer for Tellme Networks, a division of Microsoft where he oversaw many applications including Tellme Search. Prior to Tellme, Gary was the founder and president of Clayton Multimedia. Gary holds eleven US patents and applications, is a Grammy Award nominee, and his innovations have been acclaimed by a number of associations and journals, including the Wall Street Journal Innovation Awards.
The Carlyle Group
Mr. Marcel Poecke serves as Head, International Energy at The Carlyle Group. He has a long-term relationship with Carlyle and is a 25-year energy sector veteran. Most notably, he founded Petroplus in 1993 and grew the business into the largest independent oil refiner in Europe. Following his departure from Petroplus in late 2007, Mr. Poecke established AtlasInvest N.V. to make oil and gas investments where he and his team built an energy portfolio in oil, gas and renewable energy. In 2009, the team made its largest investment to date, Oranje-Nassau Energie (ONE). ONE is a private Dutch exploration & production company with a long track record in running a diversified upstream portfolio. Marcel van Poecke is chairman of the ONE Board and a Board Member at Discover Exploration, VARO, Hestya and Argos Group Holdings. He has a degree in Agricultural Business Administration from the University of Wageningen and a Masters in Business Administration from the William E. Simon School of Management, University of Rochester.
